Dr. Gottlieb is the Director of the Cancer Metabolism Research Unit at Cancer Research-UK, Beatson Institute. He received his BSc in Agricultural Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1990 and MSc (1993) and PhD (1999) degrees in Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science. In 1998 he moved to the USA for his postdoctoral training, to study metabolic regulation of cell death and cancer, first at the University of Chicago as an EMBO fellow and later at the University of Pennsylvania as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Special Fellow. In 2003, he was appointed a Research Group Leader at the Cancer Research-UK, Beatson Institute. Dr. Gottlieb and his team combine chemical, biochemical and biological approaches to study metabolic transformation of cancer. He became a Professor of Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Glasgow in 2009.
